Truth #8: The decay of Gopakapattana

There is not even a sign board, that tell the Goans and tourists about the existence of the port of Goapkatattana. Pre-Portuguse history is being purposely neglected.

The pre-Portuguese port of Gopakapattana is left for decay, to be ignored and forgotten.

Dr. Rajiv Nigam is the Chief Scientist of the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO). He has proposed new excavations at the ancient harbor of Gopakapattana. Dr. P.P Shirodkar claimed that 100 ships could be docked at this harbor at the same time. Dr. Nigam has opined that the harbor at the Zuari River might be between 3.000 and 4.500 years old. Should this be proven right, than Gopakapattana was a center for maritime trade during the reign of King Solomon.
